Las Vegas
17th - 19th July
We were so excited to get another hire car - LA really makes you appreciate the freedom of movement. So we set off for our 5-6 hour journey to Vegas. Our dreams of wide open spaces for miles and great stretches of road to ourselves were not to come true - I guess you need to head further in for that. Anyway, we eventually arrived at the big theme park in the middle of the desert, found our hotel (The Luxor), parked the car and walked our luggage all the way through the casino, in order to get to the reception desk, where we had to wait in line for about an hour to get checked in. This hotel was huge!!

The Joshua trees on the way to Vegas.
The first night we ventured out, it took us ages to find the way to get out of our hotel. After asking someone for help, we actually ended up out of our hotel and into another hotel. This place is all about trapping you into spending money. When we finally got outside, the heat hit us...and so did the wind...and the sand that the wind was kicking up...and then it rained...and then it flooded. We headed back to our hotel!

The Bellagio Hotel
The days were WAY too hot to do much so we did a bit of this:

The last night, I got my wish, much to Sci's trepidation, and we got to see Elton John at Caesar's Palace. It was amazing - he was fanastic of course but his stage show was awesome.

Yeah, Vegas...it's gotta be seen...it's weird and it's wonderful, but we were ready for something a little more low-key.
