Los Angeles
14th - 17th July

By the time we reached LA, our hectic pace over the past weeks finally caught up with us. On day one, we decided to do a City Tour in a comfy airconditioned van rather than attempt to tackle the sights ourselves. The tour was great and took us to loads of places: Hollywood Walk of Fame, Gauman's Chinese Theatre, Sunset Strip, Rodeo Drive, Beverly Hills and the homes of the rich and famous, Venice Beach and canals, South Central and some of its inhabitants, Skid Row and the Hollywood sign.

Some genuine South Central homeboys...don't know by what means our tour guide has secured the rights to drive down this street and chat with these guys...we didn't ask questions.

The alley from "Boyz N the Hood".

The unfinished freeway from "Speed".

Our other two days in LA were spent taking it easy due to our travel burn-out. The nature of LA did not really help us any - it really is not a city designed for the tourist - everything is so spread out, making it hard to get anywhere without a car. (Though you would have to be mad to WANT to drive in this city.) The heat also got the better of us. Oh well, lucky LA has beaches!
